Pagosa Springs - Downtown
Pagosa Springs is the county seat of Archuleta County and the only sizable town, with a "town" population of around 1500. Most of the county's residents live outside the town limits, with Pagosa Lakes being the population center of the county.
Most of the area's growth to date has occurred west of town, but Old Pagosa serves as a public and social hub with a charm all its own. Restaurants, retail service shops, government offices, schools, residential areas, motels, hot springs and gift shops galore all comingle to create a unique little town.
There are residential areas in town, both north and south of Hwy 160. In addition, there are two distinct subdivisions on a ridge above the town - Mesa Heights and Paradise Mesa.
